Ms. Amote Sias served for over thirty two years in public education in many roles. As a teacher, she taught Computer Science, Math, English, Social Studies, Science, and Speech. As an innovator, she was the district Leadership Development Coordinator and a Regional Project Manager for the creation of small schools in NYC. Amote Sias is the Founding Principal of Brooklyn Collegiate, A College Board School, which is a high school. Ms. Sias worked as an Associate Professor at Long Island University in the English Department. Amote Sias worked a Columbia University/ Teachers College as a visiting professor in the Curriculum and Teaching department and as an administrator in the Teacher Opportunity Corps Program. Currently, Ms. Sias is the CEO of SeePeople, LLC, which is an education consulting company working with schools and districts and she is an independent consultant with Executive Leadership Institute.
She earned two bachelor degrees. One from Stony Brook University in Political Science and another from Victory Temple Bible Training School of Ministry in Christian Education. She has earned her Masters Degree from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus in English Literature after attending Columbia University and Brooklyn College graduate programs. She earned her post graduate Administration and Supervision Certificate from Baruch College. She is currently enrolled in Newburgh Seminary working toward her doctorate degree. She has earned countless certificates from workshops and courses. Ms. Sias is a trained and certified mediator, facilitator, life coach, mentor, cultural competency trainer, and conversational coach.
Ms. Sias has numerous awards, including a “Congressional Citation”, “Rock Star Principal”, a “Principal of the Year”.
