Cathy Bruno-Paparelli is a product and veteran employee of the New York City Public School System. She began her career in education in 1979 as an elementary school special education teacher. She held various positions within the DOE including teacher, health coordinator, educational administrator in program review, supervisor of special education, assistant principal supervision and organization and principal, for more than 34 years, and at all levels from elementary to high school. Ms. Bruno- Paparelli earned a BA, MS and PD in School Administration and Supervision from Brooklyn College. She served as principal of Brooklyn Comprehensive High School for eight years. Ms Bruno-Paparelli attended Harvard University’s Principals’ Institute as well as other professional learning institutions.. During her time as principal she served as the leader of building council as her school was co-located first with Midwood High School and then with the South Shore Educational Campus. Her areas of expertise include special education compliance, differentiated Instruction, leadership coaching, multiple language learners and social emotional learning. Since retirement from the NYCDOE Ms Bruno-Paparelli has served as consultant for the Executive Leadership Institute. She has been assigned as a mentor to new assistant principals and principals. She has created and conducted professional development workshops on topics as varied as Building Effective Teams; Bullying/Cyberbullying; Creating LGBTQ+ Inclusive Schools; Cultural Awareness; Danielson Coaching Techniques; Difficult Conversations for School Leaders; Dignity for All ( certified presenter by the New York State Education Department); School Culture; School Law, The Multidimensional Principal Performance Review (MPPR) as well as other topics related to school leadership and teaching and learning.
