Dolores Esposito is the former Executive Superintendent of Leadership in the NYC Department of Education with 25 years of leadership experience in Pre-K-12. She has partnered with The Wallace Foundation in support of NYC schools at central office, where she implemented and managed a comprehensive professional development plan that embodied emotional intelligence leadership skills and competencies. She is skilled in leadership development, systems thinking, school improvement and executive coaching, with certifications as an Emotional Intelligence Meta- Coach, through Daniel Goleman Emotional Intelligence and Star Factor Coaching. Additionally, she has been trained in the International Coaching Federation (ICF) content and practices.
Her effective experience from teaching to leading at the school, district, and central level for over three decades, enables her to have a unique perspective on the power of cultivating meaningful leadership pathways that enable students to thrive with purpose, voice and empathy.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Masters degrees from Fordham University and Bank Street College. She also has certifications in the areas of ESL and mathematics. Additionally, she holds specialized certifications from Harvard University’s Principal and Superintendent Leadership Institutes and The Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. She has been an adjunct professor at Bank Street College, teaching in one of their leadership preparation program, the Principals Institute.
Dolores has also served as a member of the NYS Council of School Superintendents in the House of Delegates and Commissioner’s Advisory Council. She has also had the privilege of being a speaker at the United Nations Women for Peace Organization.
Currently, Dolores serves proudly as a Leadership Consultant for the Educational Leadership Institute (ELI), the professional affiliate of the Council of Supervisors and Administrators (CSA), where she continues to develop, facilitate and infuse emotional intelligence based leadership training opportunities for all leaders. She is also a member of the Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations, CREIO. She is a proud wife, mother, daughter, sister and great aunt to many nieces and nephews whom she loves very much.
