ELI held its Leadership Summit from Mon, July 9, 2018 through Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Lincoln Center Campus of Fordham University.
The Leadership Summit was open to all CSA members and featured workshops on a wide variety of topics including: the Dignity for All Students Act, Career and Technical Education, School Law, Effective Budgeting, Social Emotional Learning, English Language Learners, Compliance, Tenure, and Creating a LGBTQ Inclusive School.
The Leadership Summit also included three plenary sessions: Dr. Margaret Terry Orr, a professor at Fordham University, addressed the persistent educational problems that plague our schools and offered solutions involving multi-perspective inquiry and collaboration; Trish Rubin, co-author of “BrandED” delivered a keynote on the communication power of creating a school brand by defining a school’s “Image, Promise, and Result”; and MaryEllen Elia, the New York State Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York, spoke at length about the new ESSA plan, the change in standards for New York State, and the APPR.
