Genie Calibar

As an educator in the NYC Department of Education for thirty-two years, Genie Calibar held numerous positions, ranging from Math and ENL teacher, teacher mentor, bilingual coordinator, testing coordinator, Assistant Principal, Director of After School programs, and Principal.  The former for 18 years in a school with over 2,000 students (over 1300 English Language Learners). During her time as principal, she worked with several institutions/universities in different research programs including Project Hope and Project Bridge with St. John’s University, Teacher’s College, Leader in ME, Learning of Language-3L Approach.   Looking for ways to close linguistic and academic gaps by enriching and enhancing English Language Learners with different programs and approaches. Ms.Calibar earned her BA in Fordham University and MS/PD in Bilingual/TESOL and in School Administration and Supervision from St. John’s University and Touro University. She is currently an adjunct professor and mentor for new teachers and administrators.
