Laurie Ann Careddu is a former New York City educator with over 34 years of experience including nine years as an elementary school principal. During her tenure within the NYC Department of Education, she served as a classroom teacher, Science Cluster, Staff Developer, Literacy Coach, Assistant Principal and Principal. As a Principal, she applied her expertise in building and leading teams to increase teacher capacity and improve student learning. She promoted diversity by celebrating and incorporating diverse aspects of cultures into the school curriculum. She highlighted student individuality as well as promoting acceptance of other cultures and their beliefs. Her belief in teaching the whole child led to the integration of social and emotional learning throughout and in every aspect of her school.
She is very excited to begin working for the Executive Leadership Institute as a mentor and consultant for new school leaders throughout NYC. Laurie Ann is also an Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University where she supervises and mentors student teachers.
