Madalene Potter was a former DOE NYC principal. During her career she has worked as a teacher, staff developer, assistant principal and principal. Since her retirement she has been teaching and mentoring Principals , Assistant Principals and teachers in NYC. She has taught courses in Literacy, Special Programs for the Schools, The Principalship/Leadership and Budgeting. These courses have been taught on and off site of Universities and Colleges. She has been affiliated with SPA at Columbia University- Teacher’s College, Hunter College, New Visions, the DOE NYC, CSA, Turn Around for Children, Morningside Center for Social Responsibility, University of Arizona and Vanderbilt University. Her B.A. was in Child Study from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College. She also possesses an extra 30 credits in Reading. Her certificate in Administration and Supervision was earned from College of Staten Island. She is certified as a workshop leader in COMP- Comprehensive Organizational Management as well as a Family Math leader. She has worked with administrators and teachers in developing their Social- Emotional skills in working with students, parents and staff members.
