Nidia Acevedo

Nidia Acevedo is presently one of the facilitators for the Executive Leadership Institute, (E.L.I.). One of her roles as a facilitator is to mentor newly assigned assistant principals. Although her passion and dedication is on supporting the schools in meeting the needs of English Language Learners, she also develops and presents various instructional and supervisory workshops through out the year. Prior to becoming a member of the E.L.I. community, Nidia proudly shares her 34 years of experience with the New York City Department of Education; Bilingual Elementary Teacher, District Bilingual Staff Developer, District Literacy Staff Developer, Adjunct Professor at Brooklyn College, Middle School Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal. Professional Accomplishments: As a Principal, Nidia was a mentor to aspiring principals. Her school was recognized by the University of the State of New York Education Department as a high performing school. Her school was recognized as an outstanding school in “Inside Magazine”. Her school was also recognized as one of the top 20 schools in the City of New York that demonstrated student growth and achievement. Nidia has presented at several national conferences, the New York Citywide ELL Institute and the Core Knowledge National Conference in California. Nidia has earned her degrees from Brooklyn College, Fordham University and Long Island University.
