In this workshop Supervisors of Early Childhood programs will review topics such as: child development and the effects of early adversity, the neurobiology of trauma, particular types of trauma (e.g., historical trauma, racial trauma, complex trauma), the relationship between culture and trauma and terms such as “secondary traumatic stress” and “vicarious trauma”. Through group activities participants will identify general trauma-sensitive practices, trauma-6.informed crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies, culturally responsive practices, self-care strategies and strategies for engaging youth and families.
