Elena S O'Sullivan

Elena O’Sullivan served 9 years as a principal before retiring after 33 years with the New York City Department of Education. She began her career teaching Elementary School. With her background in science, she became the Science Administrator for the State Science Exam, Professional Development Instructor and Science Curriculum Writer in District 22.

She continued teaching Science in Middle School, became Science Coordinator and School Programmer.

Elena taught Science Methods to the undergraduate students as an Adjunct Lecturer at St Joseph’s University, NY.

After her retirement as Principal, she taught Science Methods to Undergraduate and Graduate students in Brooklyn College. She also worked as a Field Consultant for Graduate students in the Teaching Fellows and Teach of America Programs.

Elena continued to work with the NYC Department of Education for the Office of Labor Support as a Support Unit Consultant. Her role was to assist Principals who had struggling teachers, and support them towards the 3020-a process.

Elena looks forward to using her experience to mentor new Administrators through the Executive Leadership Institute.
